Men's Cross Country Moves to No. 8 Regionally

NEW ORLEANS — The University of La Verne men's cross country team moved up a spot to No. 8 in the latest United States Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) West Region rankings the organization announced.

The No. 8 ranking is the highest the Leopards have been ranked regionally since the second week of the 2014 season. La Verne entered the rankings at No. 10 two weeks ago and moved up to No. 9 last week.

The Leopards have been led this year by sophomore Michael Sahagun who last time out made University of La Verne school history, running the second-fastest 8K of all-time at 24:57.2 in the 2021 Masters Invitational. 

After a week off, La Verne returns to action this Saturday, October 9 at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational hosted on the Pomona College campus. The meet will give the Leopards a preview of the course they will race at the SCIAC Championships and NCAA West Regionals later this year.

Race time is set for 7:45 a.m.
