LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Carly Condon led the way for La Verne going 2-for-3 with three runs and two RBIs, as the Leopards rescued the split, 5-2, at Bell Field on Saturday afternoon.

The Leopards improve to 19-7 overall and 12-4 in SCIAC, while the Tigers fall to 9-17 and 7-9.

Leading off the top of the third for La Verne, Justice Borden walked and Michelle Deguzman immediately followed with a sac bunt to move the runner. Borden wasted no time stealing third and Rachel Ogata reached first on an error. Condon stepped up and singled right to the pitcher to score Borden. Schiff, who came into the day leading the Division III in home runs with 13, was walked. With bases loaded, Sienna Kendricks smacked one the center and Ogata scored. Seeing the open opportunity, Condon stole home, putting La Verne up 3-1.

Condon sealed the deal in the top of the fifth with a solo home run.

The Tigers struck first with a quick single, but the Leopards defense would take over and hold on, limiting the Tigers to only one more run in the bottom of the sixth.

Game 1

Rachel Ogata led off the Leopards with a single to center, Carly Condon walked to put two on with no outs early on. Angelica DeAngelo reached first on an error by shortstop Cora Roberts, while Ogata scored on the play to put La Verne on the board first, 1-0.

Neither team could string anything together until Mackensie Priley smacked a 2-run double in the bottom of the fourth. The Leopards responded with the bases loaded as Schiff flied out to center, scoring Michelle Deguzman.

The Tigers would attempt small ball, but couldn't translate anything until an error scored Nyla Gatison. The error in the bottom of the seventh would finish the game in Occidental's favor, 3-2.

The Leopards return to action on Friday as they host Pomona-Pitzer at Campus West.
