La Verne Softball honored at City Hall

LA VERNE, Calif. — The University of La Verne softball team was honored Monday afternoon at La Verne City Hall in a city council meeting to commemorate their incredible 2017 season. 

La Verne Mayor Don Kendrick spoke at the meeting and presented the Leopards' coaching staff with certificates from the city commemorate the team's accomplishments. 

"It was great to be honored by the city of La Verne and represent our school," said Head Coach Julie Smith. "I could not be more proud of our 2017 squad. We all take pride in the way we represent the city of La Verne and our community."

The Leopards won the 2017 SCIAC Championship and scored a walk-off win over Claremont-Mudd-Scripps to claim the SCIAC Postseason Tournament Championship and a spot in the NCAA Division III West Regionals. It was La Verne's second SCIAC Championship in a row.
