LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced its annual Easton/NFCA All-Academic Teams on yesterday afternoon.
The 2016-17 University of La Verne softball team earned the No. 75 spot on the 125-team list of all NCAA Division III teams in the nation.
The Leopards won the 2017 SCIAC regular season and conference tournament championships on their way to a 31-14 overall record and a 20-8 mark in SCIAC play.
The rankings recognize schools that exemplify top academic standards across seven membership divisions. The Leopards earned a cumulative GPA of 3.37 in the 2016-17 academic school year.
The Leopards were also recently nominated for the NCAA Division III Special Olympics Spotlight for the month of October after partnering with the Pomona Valley Wildcats Special Olympics team for a clinic last month.
The story with the highest number of votes on the 25th day of each month is the winner. That institution or conference receives $500 to use for its next Special Olympics event.
