LA VERNE, CA — Team USA softball player and former LSU Tigers star Sahvanna Jaquish joins the University of La Verne softball staff for the 2019 season.
"Sahvanna will be an invaluable addition to our staff," said Interim Head Coach Henry Moranchel. "She will be a great resource to help our players get better and we are extremely excited for her to help lead our squad this season."
As a member of Team USA, Jaquish helped the squad win gold at the 2018 WBSC World Championship Gold hitting two home runs and driving in six RBI.
Jaquish left LSU as one of the most decorated collegiate athletes of all time. Jaquish was the first LSU softball player and the 34th softball player ever to be named a four-time All-American.
In addition to her All-American status, Jaquish was a four-time NFCA All-South Region selection, a three-time All-SEC selection, and played on three LSU squads that advanced to the College World Series. The Highland, CA native earned Lousiana Sports Write Association Freshman of the Year honors, was named to the SEC All-Tournament Team, and earned several LSWA and SEC Player of the Week recognitions among many other awards.
After completing her collegiate career, Jaquish spent a season at LSU as a volunteer assistant coach. Jaquish was also a member the Puerto Rico National Team from 2014-2016, winning a bronze medal at the 2015 Pan American games.
Jaquish is the second member of the Leopards' staff with international playing experience. Current graduate assistant Yvon Minogue played with Team Mexico for two seasons.
The Leopards open the 2019 season on Tuesday, January 29 when they host St. Katherine in a doubleheader beginning at noon. The Leopards are searching four their fourth straight SCIAC title.
