LA VERNE, CA — Jiana Rojo and Katheryn Navarro have been tabbed SCIAC Softball Athletes of the Week the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced.
The Leopards dominated the SCIAC softball weekly honors during the 2020 season earning eight total distinctions.
Rojo picked SCIAC Softball Pitcher of the Week for the fourth time this season. Rojo was outstanding in the circle in a 5-4 win over WPI. The junior earned an eight-inning complete-game win and struck out three batters while scattering just five hits and allowing just two earned runs.
Navarro added the play of the game in the win over the Engineers. The senior led off the bottom of the eighth inning and hit a solo shot over the center field fence to give the Leopards the walk-off win. Navarro earned hitter of the week honors earlier this season after the Leopards' season-opening series sweep of St. Katherine.
Francheska Juarez and Rachel Rubio also earned SCIAC Softball Athlete of the Week honors this season.
The Leopards finished the abbreviated season 11-5 overall and 4-2 in the SCIAC.
