Leopards Finish Season In SCIAC Conference Tournament

Redlands, CA: The University of La Verne Leopards were eliminated from the SCIAC Postseason Tournament by the Redlands Bulldogs by a score of 8-5. 

The Leopards offense came out of the gates hot, scoring four unanswered runs in the first three innings of play. Katheryn Navarro singled home Haylee Hsieh to give La Verne a 1-0 lead after the 1st inning. Cailin Bliss knocked in Jillian Gellatly with an infield base hit to make it 2-0 in the 2nd inning. In the 3rd inning, Janisa Rojo drove in Taylor Gray on an error and Natalia Aguilera also came home to score on an additional error giving La Verne a 4-0 lead. 

The Bulldogs came storming back with a five-run 4th inning to take a 5-4 lead over the Leopards. Redlands held the Leopards offense at bay for the rest of the game and added insurance runs in the 7th inning to take an 8-4 lead. La Verne battled in the final inning, scratching across one more run but eventually fell to the number one seeded Bulldogs 8-5. 

Standouts 

Haylee Hsieh went 2-4 at the plate and scored the game's first run. Natalia Aguilera also went 2-4 with a run scored. Katelyn Shephard minimized the damage in the 7th inning, getting the final two outs with a strikeout.
