Nationally Ranked CMS outswims Leopards

Winning 29 of the 32 events, the CMS swimmers demonstrated why their women are ranked 6th and their men are ranked 7th in current national NCAA rankings.  The Athena's won the women's meet 239 to 56 while the Stagg's won the men's meet 219 to 75.

La Verne All-American, Maddie Lovrensky, continued to dominate SCIAC teams in the backstroke; continuing her three year unbeaten streak by winning both the 100 backstroke in 0:59.45 and the 200 backstroke in 2:10.04.  Not to be outdone, senior All-American Marc Okimura won his own race in the 100 breaststroke in a time of 0:59.48.

Although the Leopards were low scoring in the points department, there were bright spots on the day.  Sophomore Diver Scott MacKay was second in the 3 meter dive and third in the 3 meter dive; senior Jacob Tittl finished third in the 3 meter dive and second in 1 meter dive.  Freshman Daniel Carpenter finished 3rd in the 50 free in 0:22.66;  Jarrett Peterson and Felipe Avandano Vila finished second and third in the 200 backstroke; Mike Sanchez and Coleman Goode finished second and third in the 200 breaststroke; and Jackie Rojas finish 3rd in the women's 200 breaststroke.

The Leopards continue SCIAC duals and head to Thousand Oaks, Calif. next Saturday to take on the Regals of Cal Lutheran and the Bulldogs of Redlands.
