Winter Invite, Day 2

Day 2

The Leopards of La Verne continued on their record setting path on Day 2 of the Winter Invitational meet.  Setting 3 new varsity records and making 2 NCAA Division III B cuts.  As a team the men have maintianed second place with 963 points, with the women maintaining third on the day with 940 points.

Maddie Lorvrensky continued on her record setting pace winning the 100 backstroke in an ncaa qualifying time of :56.66.  Lorvrensky also led off on the 400 medley which dropped the varsity record by 7 seconds combining her efforts with the outstanding performances of Jackie Rojas, Sammi Shiomoto and Melanie Consiglio.

Not to be outdone, the men's 400 medley relay of Coleman Goode, Marc Okimura, Devon Photias and Daniel Carpenter set the men's record at 3:30.43; dropping the varsity record by one full second.

More outstanding swimming occurred in the men's 100 breaststroke, Okimura finished seoncd with an NCAA B qualifiying time of :57.14.

Others scoring in the finals tonight: Photias finishing 6th in the 100 fly with a season best of :53.30.  In the men's 200 freestyle; Carpenter finished 7th with 1:47.27; Goode has a season best of 1:57.93 in the 200 individual medely to finish 5th; Consiglio won the B final in the 50 free in a season best :25.10; Rojas set the varsity record in the 100 breastroke wth a fourth place finish with 1:07.97.

The final day of the meet starts at 10 AM December 15th, with finals at 5 PM.
