Women’s Swimming dominates Mills

LA VERNE, Calif. — The University of La Verne women's swimming team won 12 of 13 events to dispatch Mills, 178-47, in a non-conference dual meet at La Verne Aquatics Center on Sunday.

RESULTS

Although Mills does not swim a men's team, the La Verne men competed against each other. Most of the Leopards—the men and the women—swam their non-signature events and still got good results.

"It's good to have this kind of meet at this point of the season," La Verne head coach Pat Skehan said. "We've been working extremely hard in training and in competition and sometimes it's good to let your hair down and let it fly."

The Leopards went 1-2-3 in; the 200 yard medley relay, 50 backstroke, 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle, 100 backstroke, 50 butterfly and the 200 freestyle relay.

Karla Fuertez (50 freestyle, 100 freestyle), Mary Hanna (50 backstroke, 100 backstroke) and Maddie Lovrensky (50 butterfly, 100 individual medley) were all double-winners.

Divers are set to compete at Caltech on Jan. 23 at 4 p.m. and the full squad resumes action on Jan. 24 against Occidental at Taylor Pool.
