Lovrensky named SCIAC Female Athlete of the Week

PASADENA — Maddie Lovrensky of the University of La Verne swimming and diving team was named the SCIAC Female Athlete of the Week as voted by the conference's sports information directors.

Lovrensky wrapped up her illustrious career with a pair of All-America honors at the 2015 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving National Championships. She took second place in the 100 yard backstroke in a new SCIAC record time of 54.73 seconds, just .16 behind the winner. She also won the consolation final of the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:59.68, setting another SCIAC record, after seeding 15th. Her time was also the fifth fastest of the night, behind four swimmers who competed in the championship final.

Lovrensky leaves La Verne with five total All-American honors, nine individual SCIAC Championships and eight school records. Lovrensky also won the SCIAC Swimming and Diving Female Athlete of the Year award twice.

Jeff Depew of Redlands won the Male Athlete of the Week honor after collecting three All-America awards at the championships.
