Polman named CollegeSwimming.com SCIAC Swimmer of the Week

SOMERS, Wis. — Timothy Polman of the University of La Verne men's swimming and diving team was selected as the CollegeSwimming.com Swimmer-of-the-Week for the SCIAC. Each week, CollegeSwimming.com selects swimmers-of-the-week for NCAA Divisions I, II and III as well as NAIA and NJCAA.

Polman has not lost a race during the selection period of Dec. 15-Jan. 15.

Against Occidental and Redlands on Jan. 7, Polman helped the men's team get off to a good start as the freestyle anchor leg in the 200 yard medley relay. He posted the fastest freestyle split (21.26) to overtake Redlands in the final 50 yards and the Leopards won the race with a time of 1 minute, 39.69 seconds. Polman claimed two individual events as well in the multi-dual meet. The senior was the only swimmer to go under 22 seconds in the 50 freestyle at 21.98 and edged teammate Daniel Carpenter in the 100 freestyle with a time of 48.35.

The Anaheim native notched three more wins against Chapman on Jan. 14. He registered two individual wins, claiming the 200 freestyle (1:47.37) and the 100 freestyle (48.31) while anchoring the winning 200 freestyle relay that touched the wall at 1:28.94.

Polman and the Leopards return to action on Jan. 28 in a dual meet at Pomona-Pitzer.
