Swim Teams Open Season at Bulldog Pentathlon

REDLANDS, CA — The University of La Verne swim teams opened the 2021-22 season on Saturday at the Bulldog Pentathlon.

The annual event consists of swimmers competing in five different events (100 butterfly, 100 backstroke, 100 breaststroke, 100 freestyle, and 100 individual medley). The combined times of the event finishes determined the overall place of the swimmers.

The men were led by sophomore Raymond Thani who finished 2th overall. He finished fourth in the 100 Breaststroke 1:02.29. Senior Jonathan Olvera finished 37th and Trevor Ichiki took 40th.
 
Senior Alondra Camacho led the women's squad finishing 26th with a 12th place finish in the 100 backstroke.  Sophomore Emma Vu finished 58th for the women.
 
"It was a great meet to practice racing after a year off," said University of La Verne head swim and dive coach Pat Skehan.
 
The Leopards are back in action on Novermber 6 at 11 a.m. at Redlands.
