The University of La Verne connected on 14 three-pointers en route to a 78-47 triumph over Pomona-Pitzer in SCIAC action Thursday night at Frantz Athletic Court.

The Leopards hit eight treys on their way to a 41-18 halftime advantage against the Sagehens.  The Leos cruised in the second half, leading by as many as 36 points before settling for a 31-point victory.

La Verne, which ranks fourth nationally in three-point field goals per game (8.5), went 14-37 the arc (37.8%) against the Sagehens.  Moreover, La Verne held a 46-36 rebounding edge. 

Kelly Kika led the Leos with a game-high 22 points, finishing 5-13 from three-point range.  Ashley Paul went 4-10 from beyond the arc to collect 16 points.  Emily Carrillo added 13 points and 7 rebounds.  Samantha Tucker pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds.

The victory helped the Leopards move into a three-way tie for third in the conference standings with Claremont-Mudd-Scripps and Cal Lutheran at 7-5 with two games remaining in the regular season.

The triumph also extended La Verne's win streak against the Sagehens to 10 consecutive games dating back to 2006.  With the loss, Pomona-Pitzer drops to 4-19 overall and 2-10 in conference play.

La Verne resumes league action Saturday as it takes on the Whittier Poets in a 5:00 pm tip-off at Graham Athletic Center in Whittier.
