The University of La Verne's three-game win streak came to an end at the hands of the University of Redlands in an 83-68 defeat in SCIAC women's basketball action Saturday evening at Currier Gym in Redlands.

Redlands (13-6, 7-1 SCIAC) led 39-32 early in the second half before going on a 12-3 scoring run to take a 51-35 advantage with 13:44 remaining.  Though La Verne closed the deficit to 11 points they didn't get any closer as the Bulldogs regained their momentum to outscore the Leopards 29-18 in the final 11 minutes.

La Verne (5-14, 3-5) was held to 24% shooting (18-75) from the field and made just 16.7% of their three-point attempts against the Bulldogs. The Leos found their mark at the free throw line in making 26 of their 33 attempts (78.8%).

The Bulldogs controlled the glass by outrebounding the Leopards 57-44 as the trio of Brittany Oster (14) Courtney Carroll (11) and Kaity Lykins (10) combined for 35 rebounds.  Ashley Sevila paced the Redlands in scoring with 16 points while Carroll and Marika Staton added 15 and 13 points, respectively.

Riki Murakami paced La Verne with a game-high of 18 points, finishing 10-12 from the free throw line. Kelly Kika also reached double figures with 11 points.

La Verne resumes action next Thursday when it travels to Eagle Rock to take on Occidental College (15-3, 7-1) in a 7:30 pm tip-off.
