Meet the Transfers

Lamas was a first-team All-South Coast Conference North Division selection this past winter. She led Rio Hondo in scoring at 15.7 points per game. Her 5.7 rebounds per game average also ranked third on the squad.

She will major in business. 

 

 

Destinee Garr | 5'10" | Guard/Forward

Garr earned second-team all-conference honors and led the Roadrunners with 8.8 rebounds per game to go along with 6.4 PPG.

She will pursue a degree in criminology. 

 

 

 

 

Emily Mercedes | 5'8" | Guard/Forward

Mercedes also put up solid numbers this past season. She was a stat stuffer for the Roadrunners where he was the team's second-leading scorer and rebounder with 9.2 points per game and 6.4 boards per game. She also ranked second on the team in steals.

She will major in criminology. 

 

Pruitt on Rio Hondo Standouts: "These young ladies will bring instant chemistry and toughness to our program. It's rare that you get three young athletes from the same program to commit. I am happy they decided to stay together and join us at the University of La Verne. Each player brings a different skill set. Maggie is a big guard that can score and rebound. Destinee is a Dennis Rodman type of player. She can defend, rebound, and score if needed. Mercedes is a true athlete, and she will be asked to play many different roles."

Irvine Valley sophomore guard Mary Dishoian will continue her academic and athletic career at the University of La Verne. Dishoian was a two-year player and started a number of games for the Lasers.

A 5'9" guard, Dishoian helped IVC to a record of 26-5 this past season. IVC won a share of the Orange Empire Conference and made the program's second-ever appearance in the CCCAA State Championship tournament.

Dishoian started nine games and averaged 6.8 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game this past season. She shot 55.8 percent from the field on the year.

Dishoian will major in business.

Pruitt on Dioshoian: "Mary is a hard worker and a winner. She's tough, scrappy, and physical. At our level, Mary will be able to play and defend multiple positions. She knows what it takes to win and is a complete team player. Mary is a huge addition to our program. You need players like her in your program to move forward and change the cultur.e

Skyline College Women's Basketball player and Women's Mentoring and Leadership Academy (WMLA) participant, Sophia Faupusa will join the Leopards this season.

Sophia was tenacious both on and off the court during her junior college career. While at Skyline, Sophia was the consummate team player. Sophia is committed to her education and motivated to accomplish her goals. 

Faupusa will major in Kinesiology.

 

Pruitt on Faupusa: "Having Sophia join our family is huge. She is the one player that can come on campus day one and be ready to compete physically and mentally. The competition that she's used to playing against since she started playing basketball has prepared her to compete in the SCIAC."

Ronnesha Harvey will join the Leopards after two successful seasons at Los Angeles Southwest College. Ronnesha will bring experience to the point guard position. She was First Team South Coast Conference and team captain. Harvey was also a member of the Dean's List during her time at Southwest.

Harvey will major in criminology.

 

Pruitt on Harvey: "Ronnesha is a tough individual who knows how to defy the odds. She has a unique skill set and will be expected to be ready to contribute right away. Her physical guard play will not go unnoticed this season."

 

Pruitt on Rogers: "Hannah is a post player that can score around the basket and has a soft touch. At SBCC she had some big games on the offensive boards and on the defensive glass as well. Hannah will certainly make an impact for us right away."

After taking a year off to focus on her studies at San Francisco State, sharpshooter Gabby Jajeh will be joining the Leopards this Fall. Jajeh had an outstanding career at the College of San Mateo where she started 43 out of 52 games. In her two years, she scored 500 points and connected on 130 three-point shots.

Jajeh will major in Psychology. 

Pruitt on Jajeh: "Gabby is a shooting guard that can spread the floor.  We will look for her to have a quick trigger when it comes to shooting the three-point shot. After taking a year off to focus on her studies, Gabby has given her body time to rest.  We look forward to Gabby coming in a making an immediate impact."

Alexis Smith | 5'8" | Guard | Santa Ana College

Alexis Smith will join the Leopards this upcoming season after a standout career at Santa Ana College. She is a scholar-athlete and won the Don team award in 2018. In 2016 Alexis won the best Offensive Player Award.  During her Sophomore season at Santa Ana College, Smith shot 40% from the field and knocked down 59 three-point shots.  She finished the year with 232 points, averaging 9 points per game.

Smith will major in business.

 

Brittany McDaniel | 6'3" | Forward/Center | Long Beach City College

Brittany McDaniel, the second leading shot blocker in the state of California, is making the University of La Verne home for her final two years of her academic and athletic career. In two stellar seasons at Long Beach City College, McDaniel appeared in 45 games and started in 26 of those contests. McDaniel earned first-team accolades during her junior college career. She averaged 7.4 rebounds per game and was third in the conference with 195 total rebounds. She ranked second in the conference in shooting percentage with an average of a 44.5 percent per game and totaled 199 points in the season. McDaniel led the conference with an average of four blocks per game, while totaling 118 blocks overall.

McDaniel will major in computer science.
