LA VERNE, CA — Bailey Kurahashi scored 27 points and the Leopards went on a run in the second half to give Claremont-Mudd-Scripps a scare Saturday night in The Tents. But the Athenas went back up by 10 with just under two minutes to play to spoil Leopards' comeback, beating La Verne 80-71.

Season Impact

The Athenas got off to a hot start in the opening quarter knocking down 56 percent of their shots let by Corinne Bogle's seven, to take a 24-10 lead at the end of the first.

Turning Point

The Leopards went on a 11-0 run early in the third quater without letting CMS get a shot off. Bailey Kirhahsi opened the surge knocking down a 32 footer from the right wing. Afer tuener (what happened) 52-46. Ronnesha Harvey made her impact felt next, dropponig a fade away jumper in the hight post. Following an inbound violation by the Athenas, Kurahashi got fouled on her next attempt and came through with a pair of free throws. Not to be outdone, Harvey drove from the corner , and dropped in a layup with the foul. The Inglewood, native came throught with the three-pint play.

Kurahashi added the highlight letting off a nother long three to cut the deficit to just five points 54-49 (check score).

Next Game

The Leopards hit the road next Wednesday when they travel to Thousand Oaks to face the Cal Lutheran Regals. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. at Gilbert Arena.
