CLAREMONT, CA — Bailey Kurahashi led the Leopards with 15 points and the Leopards went on a big run in the second quarter to get within a point of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps at halftime.

But the Leopards went cold in the fourth quarter falling to the Athenas 75-43 Monday night.

Season Impact

The Leopards fall to 12-11 overall and 6-8 in SCIAC play. With two conference games remaining, the Leopards will need some help to leapfrog Whittier College for the final spot in the SCIAC Postseason Tournament.

La Verne needs to win their final two games and needs the Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens to take down the Poets in their regular season finale. The Sagehens beat Whittier 85-71 in their first match-up earlier this season.

Remaining Games

La Verne at Caltech: Wednesday, February 13, 7 p.m.

The Leopards will have to first take care of business in Pasadena against Caltech. The Leopards and Beavers played a close one earlier this season with La Verne pulling through for a 56-54 win. The Beavers have won four of their last six including their last home game at Braun Gym, a 50-45 victory over Whittier.

La Verne at Chapman: Saturday, February 16, 2 p.m.

La Verne will then have to travel to Orange County to take on Chapman. The Leopards got two within two-points with 1:25 to play against Panthers earlier this season before falling 77-68. Chapman currently has a two-game winning streak and will have a full week rest before hosting the Leopards. However, Chapman has locked up the No. 3 seed in the SCIAC Tournament and Saturday's result cannot improve or hurt their standing.
