
LA VERNE, CA — Jazzlyn Johnson has been tabbed SCIAC Women's Basketball Offensive Athlete of the Week the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced Monday.
Johnson had an outstanding week, leading the Leopards to three wins and a 1-0 start in the SCIAC. The point guard's biggest game came against Whittier where she led all players with 31 points and helped La Verne overcome a 20-point deficit to win 78-72. Johnson had monster fourth quarter against the Poets, scoring 15 of her points in the period alone. The Fontana native finished the game with three three-pointers, eight rebounds, and an assist.
The sophomore totaled 20 rebounds, five assists, two steals, and 41 points over the Leopards' three games. The Leopards also defeated Pacific Union 84-64 and Bethesda 95-53.
The Leopards are on a five-game win streak, the most consecutive wins for the Leopards since the 2008-09 squad won six straight games. At 5-1 overall, the Leopards are off to their best start since the 2008-09 team opened the season 6-0.
It is the second-straight week a Leopard has earned SCIAC Athlete of the Week recognition. Jasmine Xiong picked up offensive honors last week after scoring 21 points in an 82-68 win over Westcliff.

The Leopards return to SCIAC play next Wednesday, December 4 when they hose Redlands at 7 p.m.
