LA VERNE, CA — The Leopards scored a season-high 15 three-pointers, they passed the century mark for the second straight game, and the University of La Verne women's basketball team rolled on their way to 102-60 a non-conference win over Piedmont College Lions Tuesday night.

With the win, the Leopards improve to 7-2 overall. Piedmont drops to 6-5 overall.
Dejanee Gill had an outstanding all-around game and her best yet as a Leopard. The junior led the Leopards on both ends of the floor with 21 points and five steals. The Rialto native also added five rebounds and three assists.

Casey Kuramoto showcased her range in the win, scoring 15 points off five three-pointers off the bench. She also added three rebounds and two steals. Aaliyah Pauling also displayed her danger from distance, finishing with four three-pointers for 12 points. She totaled three assists, one rebound, and one steal.
Destinee Garcia had a big night defensively for La Verne. The senior finished with four steals, nine points, four rebounds, and an assist. Garcia leads the Leopards and ranks fourth in the SCIAC in both steals per game (2.8) and total steals (25). The Leopards currently rank second in the SCIAC with 13.6 steals per game.
Jazzlyn Johnson added a spark off the bench dropping 11 points with three rebounds, and an assist.
The Leopards got off to a hot start, forcing three turnovers to take an 11-0 lead just two and a half minutes into the action. La Verne extended its lead to 17-3 after Garcia and Pauling knocked down a pair of threes.
La Verne kept the pressure on for the remainder of the half and turned 16 first-half turnovers by the Lions into 22 points. Garcia grabbed three first-half steals to lead the defensive effort.
The Leopards began to pull away midway through the third quarter after an 11-0 run highlighted by three-pointers from Johnson, Pauling, and Kuramoto put the Leopards up 60-36.
Alondra Ponce nearly added a double-double with nine points and a team-high nine rebounds. The junior also added one assist, one steal, and one block.
Madison Hotchkiss knocked down a pair of three-pointers and finished with eight points, four rebounds, and one assist. Jasmine Xiong dished out four assists and scored seven points.
The Leopards' bench accounted for 44 points and La Verne forced Piedmont to turn the ball over 36 times.

The Leopards continue non-conference action on Monday, December 30 with a 2 p.m. game against Lewis & Clark.
