Leos fall to UC Santa Cruz

LA VERNE — The University of La Verne Leopards lost a non-conference matchup against the visiting University of California Santa Cruz Banana Slugs on Saturday afternoon. 

The Leopards got down early and could not keep up with the Banana Slugs despite scoring 72 points, including an outburst of 30 points in the 3rd quarter. 

UC Santa Cruz was led by Tess Oakley-Stilson's career high 33 points. 

La Verne had three players in double figures. Jazzlyn Johnson led the way scoring 18 points. Milan McGary provided a spark off the bench for Coach Jason Pruitt, totaling a career high 14 points on 6-10 shooting. Marissa Howell knocked down a pair of 3-pointers, scoring 10 points in total. 

La Verne fell to 10-10 overall and will be back in action Monday night on the road against Cal Lutheran to pick up SCIAC play.
