About The Program

The Leopard women's basketball program has improved consistently in recent years. The goals have now shifted to being perennial contenders for the SCIAC crown as well as maintaining national and regional respectability. The Leopards captured the SCIAC title in 2003 and 2007 and added a SCIAC Tournament Championship in 2008.

Heralded players have passed through the program, including several all-conference performers. Included in that group is Leslee Rogers, a 1996 Kodak All-American and SCIAC MVP in 1996, and Sydni Myrick, who earned SCIAC MVP honors in 2003.  Most recently, La Verne added two 1,000 point career scorers in Marissa Raya and Trenecca Jones.  Jones was the 2007 SCIAC Player of the Year and a two-time D3hoops.com West Region First Team selection.  Raya was a two-time All-SCIAC First Team selection and is the Leopard career leader in both steals and games played.

The team schedules games against regionally and nationally-ranked opponents. Recent stops have included Cancun, Mexico, Las Vegas and Hawaii to compete in top tournaments. The coaching staff is dedicated to the development of the student-athlete to its fullest potential.

The Leopard basketball program is excited to bring a new era of passion, enthusiasm and committment as future looks extremely promising for more success.
