Contreras shoots career-low at SCIAC No. 2

UPLAND, Calif. — Freshman Kirsten Contreras broke 80 strokes for the first time in her career in the second round of SCIAC Tournament No. 2 (April 4-5) at Upland Hills Country Club (par-70) and finished 25th overall.

Contreras shot an 84 on Saturday to finish 30th after the first round but moved up fie spots after the strong showing in the second round. She finished with a 23-over 163.

Fellow freshman Morgan Malloy also cut a couple of strokes on the second day. Malloy scored an 88 on Saturday and booked an 86 to finish tied for 31st overall.

Rachel Hong, who got to play both rounds due to a softball bye week, finished with a total score of 211 (104-107).

No. 6 Redlands took the team title with a 22-over 595 (293-302) and Caroline Ordian claimed the medalist honors for the Bulldogs (70-73=143).

The Leopards will wrap up their season at the SCIAC Championships from April 26-28 at Oak Valley Golf Course.
