THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — The University of La Verne women's golf team shot a two-round score of 873 to finish ninth at the Cal Lutheran Regals Invitational on March 14-15 at Sunset Hills Golf Club.

La Verne shot 454 in the first round on Monday and trimmed 35 strokes to shoot 419 today. The Leopards were one of four teams to shoot a lower score in the second round than the first.

Kirsten Contreras led the way for the Leopards as she has done all season, finishing tied for 32nd with a total score of 184. She shot a 97 on Monday but came back to post an 87 in the final round.

Morgan Malloy shot a total of 211 and finished 42nd. She carded a 103 in the first round and came in with 108 in the second round.

Valerie Lopez shot a total of 233 (120-113) and Nadira Fatah registered a 261 (134-127) to round out La Verne's scoring lineup.

Claremont-Mudd-Scripps won the team title with a score of 653 (323-330) and the Athenas' Margaret Loncki claimed the individual medal with a low score of 159 (78-81).

The Leopards are back in action on Friday at Augustana Spring Fling in Palm Desert.
