Contreras leads Women's Golf at Las Vegas Desert Classic

NIPTON, Calif. — A trio of Leopards competed as individuals at the Las Vegas Desert Classic on March 5-6 at Primm Valley Golf Club (par-72) against some of the top NCAA Division II teams.

All three Leopards showed improvement from the first round to the second.

Kirsten Contreras led the way for the Leopards, shooting a two-round total of 185. The junior cardded a 95 in the first round but cut five strokes in the final round. She finished 71st.

Morgan Malloy shot 103 in the first round but reduced six strokes to book a 97 in the second and finished tied for 74th.

Valerie Lopez improved by 16 strokes, shooting 112 in the second round after carding a 128 on the first day.

The Leopards return to action at Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational in Georgia on March 17-19. It will be the women's team's first trip to the premier NCAA Division III tournament.
