SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. — The University of La Verne women's golf team kicked off the spring season at SCIAC No. 1 hosted this weekend at Arrowhead Country Club. 

Kirsten Contreras led La Verne, tying for 26th overall shooting a 174 over both days. The senior shot 85 on day one and followed it up with an 89 in the final round.

Alexi Gonzalez finished one stroke back of Contreras with a 175. After shooting an 89 to open the tournament, she improved by three strokes on Sunday. 

Morgan Malloy finished with a 196 shooting 98 both days. 

Claremont-Mudd-Scripps won the team opening tournament with a score of 619.

Next Round: La Verne competes next at the Cal Lutheran Regals Invitational beginning on March 12 at the Sunset Hills Country Club in Thousand Oaks.
