Women's Golf closes out SCIAC Championships

PASADENA, CA — The University of La Verne women's golf team closed out the 2019 season at the SCIAC Championships on Saturday.

The 2019 edition of the championships was the first time the Leopards were able to score as a team since 2016.

The Leopards will return all five golfers next season.

Alexi Gonzalez led La Verne the Leopards with an 87 on Saturday, a four-stroke improvement from round two. The sophomore ended the weekend on a high note, birding the final hole of the tournament.

Katrina Kasenda finished the day with a 93. Carly Nicholson improved by eight strokes between Friday and Saturday, shooting a 91 on day three with a birdie on the third hole.

Alexandra Hauck showed steady improvement each day, finishing the championships with a 91, her lowest round of the weekend.

Tina Chaw also finished with her lowest round at 107.
