The University of La Verne women's soccer team advances to a .500 (3-3) record after Saturday's 2-1 victory over the University of California Santa Cruz.
The Slugs' Megan Carey (assisted by Alexis Dracker) put UCSC up 1-0 after attacking the Leopards 12-minutes into the game. The Leopards retaliated at the 31-minute mark when freshman forward Alexa Smith crossed a shot to junior midfielder Jamie Weaver tying the score 1-1. Junior goalkeeper Delanie Pacheco shut down the Slugs for the remainder of the game posting 5 saves.
With 9-minutes left in the second half, freshman midfielder Megan Hodgson advanced on goal and scored unassisted to send the Leopards into a 2-1 victory.
The Leopards (3-3, 0-0 SCIAC) take on Pomona-Pitzer at their field Wednesday at 4:00pm.
