La Verne loses to Pomona-Pitzer

The University of La Verne women's soccer team (3-4, 0-1 SCIAC) lost a tense battle at Pomona-Pitzer College 0-1 on Wednesday.

The Sagehens started off the game attacking the Leopards with 2 shots less than a minute into the game. Regardless of the attempts La Verne's junior goalkeeper Delanie Pacheco deflected multiple shots by the Sagehens. Pacheco provided the Leopards with 14 saves (11 in the second half) on the day. The Leopards took back-to-back shots at the 40-minute mark that were unable to get into the net.

Into the second half the Sagehens faced the Leopards with a volley of shots. Unable to stop a high goal by Pomona-Pitzer's junior midfielder Nicole Quilliam, the Leopards met defeat.

The Leopards will be back in action on Saturday at home against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps for a 7:30pm contest.
