LA VERNE, Calif. — Lauren Toneck, the only four-year senior on the La Verne women's soccer team, went out with a bang, scoring a header in the 69th minute.
But the goal wasn't enough as the Leopards lost, 2-1, on Saturday night at Ortmayer Stadium.
Toneck finished off a corner kick from a fellow senior, Carlee Chien, to pull the Leopards within a goal of the Regals. But La Verne could not find the equalizer.
Before the game, the Leopards honored the careers of their seven seniors with a brief ceremony.
The Regals got on the board in the 24th minute as Bianca Deardorff finished a pass from Raquel Weckhurst and found the winner in the 54th minute when Jordan Miller directed a Weckhurst corner kick into the net.
Maribel Duran, Cambria Smith and Idalys Martinez each put in a shot on goal.
La Verne finishes the season 6-10-2 overall and 4-9-1 in SCIAC play.
