Women's Soccer ties with Oxy on the road

LOS ANGELES, Calif. — The University of La Verne women's soccer team kept the attack on the Tigers all game, but after 110 minutes of action, neither team could find the back of the net, drawing 0-0 Saturday afternoon at Occidental College.

Season Impact: The Leopards keep their undefeated season intact, moving to 4-0-1 overall and 1-0-1 in SCIAC play. Three of the Leopards five games this season have gone to overtime. Occidental now sits at 2-1-1 overall and 0-1-1 in the SCIAC.

La Verne doubled up Occidental on shots, rattling off 10 attempts to the Tigers five. Jessica Hernandez had the last chance for the Leopards in the first overtime period but missed wide. Hernandez leads the Leopards with three goals this season and ranks in the top five in the SCIAC in points with eight.

The Leopards' defense smothered the Tigers' attack, limiting Occidental to just five shots. The Tigers' only shot on goal in the match came with just over a minute remaining in the second overtime period but keeper Hanien Samara snagged the ball to keep Oxy off the board.

Juna Bouchekara finished the game with two shots, one of them on goal. Ivana FatovicAndrea StoryCatherina Posada, Mia Trugerro, and Katherine Obregon each added a shot on goal.

Next Game: The Leopards are back in action on next Wednesday, September 20 when they travel to Claremont to play No. 16 Pomona-Pitzer at 4 p.m.
