Women's Soccer Dominates in Pasadena

PASADENA, Calif. — Jessica Hernandez and Lauran Redding each scored twice and the University of La Verne women's soccer team dominated the Caltech Beavers on their way to an 8-1 nonconference win on the road Monday night.

Season Impact: The Leopards improve to 6-0-2 overall while the Beavers fall to 0-5.

Hernandez scored the final two goals for the Leopards just over a minute apart from each other in 77th and 78th minutes. Hernandez currently leads the SCIAC in points with 14 and is tied for first in goals with six. The senior won SCIAC Athlete of the Week honors early this year after scoring game-winning goals against St. Catherine and UC Santa Cruz.

Redding notched her first multi-goal game of the season, scoring at the end of the first half to give the Leopards a 4-1 lead at the break, and later in the 75th minute to put her squad up 6-1.

Amaris Sherlock gave the Leopards the opening lead, scoring off an assist from Mila Ladek for her first goal of the season.

After Caltech's Krystin Brown evened the game at 1-1, Amanda Silveira scored her first goal of the year to give La Verne the lead for good.

Juna Bouchekara connected with Andrea Story to put the Leopards up 3-1.

Ledek added a goal of her own to open the second half after Megan Rhode filtered her the ball in the 51st minute.

Jasmine Valadez finished the game with four saves.

Next Game: The Leopards travel to Cal Lutheran this Wednesday to face the Regals at 7:30 p.m.
