Women's Soccer drops game on the road

WHITTIER, Calif. — The Poets scored a goal in the opening minute and the University of La Verne women's soccer team couldn't recover, falling to Whittier College 3-0 Wednesday night.

Andrea Aldama gave the Poets the 1-0 lead at the one minute mark.

The Poets attacked the Leopards all game, finishing with 31 shots in the match. 

La Verne keeper Jasmine Valadez stayed busy in the match, racking up 16 saves in the game.

The Leopards didn't get many opportunities at the net, totaling just six shots in the game.

Ari Dowell finished with two shots in the match.

Season Impact: The Leopards drop to 9-2-3 overall and 5-2-3 in the SCIAC. Whittier College improves to 9-6 overall and 5-6 in conference play. 

Next Game: The second place Leopards return home to play first place Cal Lutheran this Saturday at 7 p.m.
