Women's Soccer drops close 1-0 game to Redlands

LA VERNE, Calif. — The University of La Verne women's soccer team had a couple chances but couldn't find the back of the net, falling to the Redlands Bulldogs 1-0 Wednesday night.

Season Impact: The Leopards move to 9-5-3 overall and 5-5-3 in the SCIAC. La Verne is currently tied for second place in the SCIAC with 18 points and one regular season game left to play.

With a win on Saturday, La Verne will secure a spot in the four-team SCIAC Postseason Tournament. If the Leopards tie or drop their game, they will have to wait for the rest of the SCIAC results to play out to see if they make the postseason.

The Leopards had one of their best chances midway through the first half when Mila Ladek let off a hard shot. The ball bounced off the crossbar and down, just in front of the goal line.

Hayley Romo scored the only goal of the game in the 57th minute to give Redlands the lead.

La Verne had one final chance late. With just under two minutes to play, Anna Ottley gathered the ball in the box and fired off a hard shot to the left side of the net. But Redlands keeper Hannah Menk made a diving save to keep La Verne off the board.
