LA VERNE, CA — The University of La Verne women's soccer team battled for 90 minutes, forcing an overtime match for the fourth time this year. But the visiting Redlands Bulldogs got off two shots at the beginning of the overtime period, connecting on the second to beat the Leopards 1-0 Wednesday night at Ortmayer Stadium.

Season Impact

The Leopards fall to 0-5-2 overall and 0-4-1 in SCIAC play. Redlands improves to 4-2-1 and 3-0-2 in the conference.

How It Happened

Hanien Samara made big plays in front of the net in the opening 45 minutes of the game. The Bulldogs got off two hard shots on goal in the half but Samara came up with diving saves each time to keep the game even.

Vivian Ramirez had the best chance for the Leopards in the opening half, beating a defender inside the box, letting off a shot towards the left post, but the ball rolled just wide.

Redlands continued to attack in the second half but La Verne's defense didn't break, sending the Leopards to their third SCIAC overtime game this season.

Overtime

The Bulldogs got the opening possession of extra time and drove straight to the box. Louisa Alstot let off a shot that was blocked by the Leopards but Madison Mills connected with Eva Vlassopoulos to give Redlands the win 20 seconds into overtime.

Next Game

The Leopards head to Orange County this Saturday for a 7 p.m. game against the Chapman Panthers.
