LA VERNE, CA — The University of La Verne women's soccer team scored two first half goals and that was all they needed, defeating the visiting Caltech Beavers at home 2-0.

The Leopards counted on their seniors to get on the board. Forward Andrea Story got the scoring started in the 13th minute, netting an unassisted goal for the opening 1-0 advantage.

Two minutes later, Story created an opportunity for Mia Trugerro, connecting with the Diamond Bar native to double the Leopards' lead.

The La Verne backline kept the pressure of keeper Jasmine Valadez, limiting the Beavers to just one shot in the match with zero on goal.

Season Impact

After several close games, the Leopards notch their first win of the season, improving their overall record to 1-7-2 overall and 1-6-1 in SCIAC play. Caltech falls to 1-7 overall and 0-7 in the conference.

Next Game

The Leopards continue SCIAC play next Saturday, October 6 when they travel down the road to face Claremont-Mudd-Scripps at 11 a.m.
