Women's Soccer ties first place Redlands

REDLANDS, CA — Mia Trugerro scored the equalizer in the 88th minute to even the game 1-1 and the University of La Verne Leopards and the Redlands Bulldogs played to a stalemate in the extra 20 minutes Saturday night. 

The game marked the sixth time the Leopards have gone to overtime this season.

Trailing 1-0 in the 88th minute, Trugerro gathered a pass and dribble pass a pair of defenders. She got off a shot from the top of the box and sent the shot between the legs of keeper Natalie Hubacz to tie the game.

The Leopards had chances in overtime getting off seven shots in extra time but they couldn't find the back of the net.

Jasmine Valadez did her part in front of the net for La Verne. The senior racked up seven saves to keep the Leopards in the game.

Emily Falla gave the Bulldogs the opening lead 30 minutes into the second half, scoring from the right side of the box.

Season Impact

La Verne moves to 2-10-3 overall and 2-9-2 in SCIAC play. The Bulldogs now stand at 9-4-2 overall and 8-2-2 in the SCIAC.

Next Game

The Leopards play their final game of the season Wednesday night at 7 p.m. against Chapman. The Leopards will celebrate Senior Night in a brief pregame ceremony.
