Leopards Open Exhibition Season At Home Against The University Of Saint Katherine

La Verne, CA- The University of La Verne women's soccer team opened up its exhibition season with a home match against the University of St. Katherine at Ortmayer Stadium. The match, which would end in a 1-1 tie provided the Leopards coaching staff the opportunitity to gauge the progression as a team through the pre-season. Head coach Lauryn Pehanich spoke about the points of emphasis for her team and how they are looking to build heading into this weekend's contest at San Diego Christian. "We have been focusing on our mentality in this pre-season which is "I'll do it." This looks like every one of our women taking individual responsibility for the attacking and defending principles that we have been hammering away at. In Mammoth we really saw the women come together and unify for a common goal. Our senior leadership has been outstanding this year, and the amount of accountability that they have put on themselves and their teammates in the little and big things is what is going to make us successful this year. We are excited about the starting ground of St Katherine's but we are not satisfied with the result. We have a few tactical areas that the coaching staff spotted that we will be focusing on, as well as continuing to sharpen up our individual technical abilities, such as a "clean first touch" across our body so we can move the ball quickly and find the holes in our opponents shape."

The Leopards will take on San Diego Christian on the road Saturday Augsut 27th at 11:00am.
