La Verne, CA - The University of LA Verne women's soccer team hosted the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Athena for a home SCIAC contest at Ortmayer Stadium. The Athenas and Leopards entered the game both looking to obtain their first conference victory of the year.
The first half of play would see both teams go scoreless until the 5:58 mark of the half when CMS scored its first and only goal of the game, giving the Athenas a 1-0 lead entering halftime.
The Leopards would shoot in the second half but would not be able to convert as they fell to the Athenas by a final score of 1-0. Leopard McKenzie Maggiore had eight saves in the game for La Verne.
The Leopard will travel to Pomona-Pitzer for a road contest on September 21st. The game starts at 4:00 pm.
