Track and Field competes at Pomona-Pitzer Invitational

CLAREMONT, Calif. — Tiahna Gillon finished eighth overall in the women's 100 meters and Nick Gonsalves finished 13th in the men's 100 meters to highlight the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational on Saturday for the University of La Verne track and field teams.

Throwers and jumpers got the weekend off for the Leopards.

Women's competition

Gillon clocked a time of 12.40 seconds was the third fastest among NCAA Division III runners and fourth among all collegiate competitors. Kimmy Kabluyen finished 23rd overall in the 100 with a personal best time of 12.83.

Andrea Ramirez fared well in the middle distances, finishing 25th and 30th in the 800 meters (2 minutes, 22.36 seconds) and the 1500 meters (4:57.16), respectively.

Kamalei Lee led the way for the Leopards in the 5,000 meters at 20:01.62.

The 4x100 meters relay team of Taelor Roby, Kabluyen, Alexa Smith and Gillon notched a time of 49.43 to finish fourth.

Men's competition

Gonsalves ran a 10.95, which tied for his season-best, in the 100 and was the third fastest Division III finisher. Robert Oshodin came in at 11.14 in the event for 25th place and Josh Francis was right behind at 11.19.

Francis, Oshodin and Gonsalves combined with Khayree Jones to finish third in the 4x100 relay with a time of 41.95 seconds.

Jayden Earlywine finished 28th in the 800 meters at 2:00.38 and David Sincock crossed the line in 3:05.09 in the 1,500 meters.

The Leopards will return to action next Saturday at the final SCIAC Multi-Dual of the season at Caltech.
