Women's Track & Field splits at SCIAC Multi-Dual 2

REDLANDS, Calif. — The University of La Verne women's track and field team turned in a handful solid results to earn a split against Whittier and Redlands on Saturday at Cunningham Track. The Leopards beat Whittier and lost to the Bulldogs.

Micaela Krumweide and Mele Halalilo earned individual wins for the Leopards in the triple jump and the javelin throw, respectively. Krumweide won the triple jump with a leap of 11.10 meters (wind-aided) and Halalilo claimed the javelin throw with a personal record throw of 37.13 meters.

Halalilo added third-place finish in the shot put (11.35m) and a fourth-place finish in the discus (39.03m). 

Dreama Gonzales was second in the long jump with jump of 5.40m and Catalina Lee Kim also took second in the triple jump behind Krumweide with a leap of 10.89m. Ebony Turner cleared 1.50m in the high jump to finish third.

On the track, Melissa Cerrillos posted personal records in the 800 meters (2:22.90) and the 1500 meters (4:52.43), finishing third in both events.

Tiahna Gillon came in second in the 100 meters with a wind-aided time of 12.45 seconds and Kimmy Kabluyen ran a 59.07 in the 400 meters to finish second.

Carmen Sandoval came in second in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:07.10.

The Leopards are back in action next Saturday at Pomona-Pitzer Invitational.
