Women's Track & Field sets more personal records

LOS ANGELES — Melissa Cerrillos, Carmen Sandoval and Catalina Lee Kim each set new personal records to highlight the annual Occidental Distance Festival Spring Break Classic on Friday.

Cerrillos, who came out of nowhere to win the 3000m steeplechase at last year's SCIAC Championships, lowered her standard in the event with a time of  11 minutes, 18.24 seconds and finished fifth overall.

Sandoval set a new personal record in the 400m at 1:00.51, slashing more than two seconds off her previous best. She finished seventh overall in the event.

Lee Kim, who has been on fire of late, continued her roll, setting a new personal mark in the 100m hurdles with a time of 15.21 and finished fourth overall. Lee Kim added an individual win in the triple jump with a leap of 11.00 meters (36 feet, 1.25 inches).

Ebony Turner was also impressive, winning the high jump with a clearance of 1.57m (5-01.75), which tied her personal record.

Taylor Schulze finished fifth overall in the pole vault with a clearance of 3.30m (10-10.00).

The Leopards are back in action on March 25 at Point Loma Invitational in San Diego.
