Lee Kim wraps up season at NCAA National Championships

GENEVA, Ohio — Catalina Lee Kim concluded her record-breaking season with a 15th-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles prelim at the 2017 NCAA Division III National Championships, hosted by Mount Union and the Cleveland Sports Commission.

Lee Kim, who broke a 15-year school-record in the event previously held by La Verne Hall of Famer Liz Lucsko '03 multiple times this season, came in fourth in the third and final heat with a time of 14.74 seconds. The winners of each heat and the next best six athletes advanced to the final.

Lee Kim was the breakthrough star for the La Verne track and field teams this season. The junior broke her personal records in four different events (100m, long jump, triple jump, 100m hurdles) and claimed the 2017 SCIAC championship in the triple jump in addition to qualifying for the national championships for the first time.

Andrew Carrasco, a championship contender in the hammer throw, will compete tomorrow starting at 10:30 a.m. PDT.
