Track and Field teams close out SCIAC regular season

LOS ANGELES — T.J. Randall ended with three wins, Ebony Turner set one of the top marks in the nation in the high jump as the University of La Verne track and field teams closed out SCIAC regular season competition Saturday afternoon at Bill Henry Track.

The Leopards competed against Occidental, Whittier, Chapman and Cal Lutheran.

SCIAC Scoring: The competition counts in La Verne's dual meet record which makes up 25 percent of the overall SCIAC standings. The SCIAC Championship at the end of April determines the other 75 percent. 

Top Performances

For the second SCIAC meet in a row Randall dominated, scoring wins in the shot put, discus, and hammer throw.Randall will head into the SCIAC championships as the conference's top-ranked athlete in the hammer throw and shot put.

Turner tied for first in the high jump and set the 11th best mark nationally in the event this year at a height 5-05. The mark is a personal record and ranks third in La Verne history.

SCIAC Championships: The next time the Leopards get into conference action will be at the 2018 SCIAC Championships. the two-day meet begins on Friday, April 27 at University of Redlands and concludes the following day.
