Leopards Compete at Oxy and APU

LOS ANGELES —  T.J. Randall and Kyle Ambat set a personal record in the shot put as a handful of athletes from the University of La Verne track and field teams competed at the annual Occidental Invitational and Azusa Pacific Twilight and Multi-Duals.

Participants in the meet range from athletes from all NCAA Divisions to Olympic hopefuls.

Randall set his new record in the shot put at 51-02.75, improving his spot number two spot on the La Verne top-10 list.

Melissa Cerrillos ran a season best in the 3000m steeplechase. The La Verne record holder in the event finished with a time of 11:11.56.

Ambat led a quartet of Leopard leapers in the long jump. The junior finished with a mark of 22-08.50. Hunter Powers (20-11.25), Anthony Carter (20-10.75), and Nicolas Freeman (19-08.25) also competed in the event. Ambat also competed in the triple jump, finishing with a distance of 44-00.00.

In the discus, Michael Brown threw a 141-00. Micaela Krumweide finished with a leap of 16-04.25 in the long jump. Anthony Hamilton finished with a height of 6-04.75 in the men's high jump, and Ebony Turner ended with a mark of 5-01.00 in the women's high jump.

Catalina Lee Kim competed in the 100m hurdles, ending with a time of 5-01.00. Freshman Matthew Salas ran a 1:56.27 in the 800m run.

The La Verne men's 4x400m relay team also competed at the Invite with the combination of Jeffrey Ouk, Trevor Welch, Patrick Cornwell, and Anthony Carter finishing with a time of 3:23.64.

Azusa Pacific Twilight and Mult-Duals

Ambat set his record Friday night in Azusa when he set his new best mark at 22-10, placing him in a tie for 10th on La Verne's top-10 list.

Lee Kim competed in the triple jump (35-10) and long jump (18-0.5) at APU. Randall threw 49-1.75 in the shot put at the meet.

Carter (21-7.25), Freeman (20-8), and Powers (20-1) all competed in the long jump.
