Griffin wins 400m, Women's T&F podiums in 6 events

CLAREMONT, CA — Jade Griffin led the University of La Verne women's track team with three All-SCIAC performances and the Leopards totaled six podium finishes on the final day of the SCIAC Championships.

Griffin had a big day for the Leopards. The junior ran a personal best in the 400m on her way to claiming her first career SCIAC Championship. Her time of 57.24 ranks third in La Verne history.

Griffin added a third place finish in the 200m dash posting a time of 25.35.

Melissa Cerrillos added a second place finish in the 1500m. The senior ran a personal best time of 4:40.54, the third best time in the La Verne record books.

Micaela Krumweide made her final SCIAC Championships a memorable one. The senior earned a spot on the podium for the first time in her career, finishing second in the triple jump with a personal best leap of 38-3.25 (11.66m). Krumweide now sits third all-time in program history.

Ebony Turner finished on the podium in the high jump for the second straight season. The senior finished third with a final height of 5-03.75 (1.62m).

The Leopards 4x400m relay team posted a season-best time on the way to placing second. The squad of Griffin, Cerrillos, Jessica Portillo, and Elizabeth Prevedello posted the eighth fasted time in Leopard history with a time of 4:00.39.

La Verne finished sixth as a team. Claremont-Mudd-Scripps won the team title.
