NEW ORLEANS — Jade Griffin has been named a 2020 Indoor Track and Field All-American the United States Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association announced Tuesday morning.

Complete All-American List

The senior earns the distinction after she qualified for the 2020 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships that were scheduled to begin on March 12 before it's eventual cancellation. Griffin qualified for the event as the ninth seed in the 200m dash with a time of 25.31. It is the first All-American award for Griffin.

With the cancellation of the meet, the USTFCCCA awarded All-America honors to all student-athletes who earned qualifying marks to nationals.

"Jade had a very solid indoor season that led to a highly ranked qualifying mark for the NCAA Championships," said La Verne Track and Field Head Coach Kevin Reid. "She had already run at the JDL FastTrack and as happy as we were for her to qualify we were more excited to see what she would have been able to do back on that track."

Griffin will leave La Verne littered with accolades. The Manteca native is a two-time NCAA Championships qualifier (once in indoors and once in outdoors), earned four Indoor All-West Region honors, picked up three Outdoor All-West Region honors, won a SCIAC Championship in the 400m dash, and finished with four All-SCIAC performances.

"This award truly represents the effort she had put in, and we are happy and proud that she can now call herself an All-American," said Reid.
