The outside hitting tandem of senior Randi Taylor-Toomay and freshman Brittany Yaxley each represented the University of La Verne on the Pacific Coast Classic All-Tournament Team, held this past weekend on the campuses of Pomona-Pitzer, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps and La Verne.
The duo - both alums of Glendora High School - helped lead the Leopards to a 3-1 record over the weekend to open the 2012 season. La Verne recorded wins over No. 16 UMass Boston, NYU Poly and Baldwin Wallace.
Taylor-Toomay finished the tournament with 59 kills in the four matches, reaching double figures in kills in each contest. Yaxley completed her weekend with 50 kills, including a 20-kill, 17-dig effort against Colorado College on August 31.
La Verne returns to action this weekend as it plays in the Posada Royale Invitational (Sept. 7-8) in Thousand Oaks.
