Leopard volleyball team stumbles on the road

CLAREMONT- The University of La Verne volleyball squad endured a 3-1 loss in a conference road matchup with Pomona-Pitzer Tuesday evening.

The Leopards (5-19, 2-7 SCIAC) dropped the opening set 25-23 but rallied to a 29-27 victory in the second before losing the final two 25-22 and 25-18. The Sagehens improved to 13-6 overall and 6-3 in league play.

Sophomore outside hitter Brittany Yaxley led four La Verne player with double-digit kills with 18. Sophomore outside hitter Ashlyn Cross had 14 while freshman middle blocker Kelsi Robinson and junior outside hitter Nysa Allen chipped in 11 and 10 respectively. Senior setter Morgan Donohue tallied 47 assists and sophomore libero Monica Lopez made 16 digs. 

The Leos are slated to host Occidental College Friday at 7:30 p.m.
