LA VERNE- The University of La Verne volleyball squad endured a 3-0 loss to Occidental College Friday evening.

The Leopards were on the wrong side of a tight first set, 25-23, and lost the next two 25-17 and 25-15. The Leos dropped to 5-20 overall and 2-8 in the SCIAC while Occidental moved to 13-7 and 7-3 in conference action. 

Sophomore outside hitter Brittany Yaxley recorded a double-double on the night with a team-high 11 kills and 14 digs. Freshman setter Tiffany Mancuso led the Leos with 20 assists.

La Verne plays again Saturday on the road against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. Game time is 6 p.m. in Claremont.
